Eastern-Tailed Blues are small butterflies that always announce themselves with an impression of blue as they flutter around. The outside of the wings is similar to their cousin the gray hairstreak.
The Summer Azure is very fond of the Chaste Tree (Vitex agnus-castus) that it is nectaring on in this photo.
This dapper Gray Hairstreak was so involved in the Baby’s Breath that I got some great pictures.
The Red-Banded Hairstreak is another butterfly that shows up in the fall where I live. The second photo of this butterfly was taken in the evening, with the sun coming from almost directly behind the butterfly. You can really see the texture of the wings.
