Many summer evenings I have this visitor, a large moth that looks like a hummingbird. In fact, it is a sphinx moth called a Hummingbird Clearwing (Hemaris thysbe). Usually these moths zoom around so quickly that you can’t get good photos, but this one was really enjoying my buddleia so I was able to get a number of good shots. They also love my moonflowers and my night-blooming jasmine.
